The Growing Pavilion

The design intention is to make use of the pointed arches ( one of the characteristics in Gothic architecture) as a design element to develop a pavilion in an open park for people gathering or taking rest. The employment of pointed arches allowed the medieval architects to build higher cathedrals with big interior space and openings. The cathedrals grew taller as the technics continued to develop. Thus, the pointed arches also became larger and show a growing trend. “The growing pavilion” thus is an installation which represents the development process of Gothic arches.
